Tom and tina Maple - maple vineyards
Mark's Uncle Tom Maple and his wife Tina came to Dry Creek Valley in 1987 and got their start in farming grapes quite by accident. For the next 28 years they put their hearts into being custodians of a vineyard that is the perfect combination of location, climate, grape type, growing style and grower's personalities that has become Maple Vineyards. Experiencing the Maples growing wine in the vineyard with old fashioned farming techniques during visits to Healdsburg helped connect Mark to his dream of one day following in their footsteps. In 2014, inspired by his Aunt Tina and Uncle Tom Maple, Mark left his 22 year career at a Fortune 500 company to pursue his dream. Along with his wife Sheila, they began a search for the right place to build their own legacy. After almost 10 years of consideration and searching, the couple fell in love with the unique mountainside property that Alson and Martha Kemp so caringly developed.
In May of 2015, Mark's Uncle Tom passed away. His zest for life and his philosophy for traditionally farming grapes lives on with his wife Tina. Aside from managing his own vineyard, Mark has been learning the Maple farming techniques by working alongside Tina at Maple Vineyards.
MARY AND DENNIS FARMER
Mark's parents, Mary and Dennis Farmer (Aka. Anthony Famighetti) exposed their kids to so much of life. As a result of Dennis' job, the family moved 11 times, including stints in 3 different countries. Each move instilled a sense of adventure in their kids, teaching them how to appreciate family, but also how to embrace different cultures and different points of view. Their encouragement throughout this process, helped to make Famighetti Vineyards a reality.
